The Epson EB-L610U 6000 is a brilliant laser projector. Epson pitches it as an entry-level model, which it might be on their product list, but in reality, the EB-L610U has everything you want in in a projector – WUXGA resolution, excellent brightness, and both HDBaseT and HDMI connectivity. You can spend more on a laser projector, but the value of the EB-L610U will have you questioning why you’d want to.

EB-L610U Projector Review

The reason most people switch to a laser projector from a lamp projector is the laser type has a superior lifespan. You’re looking at 24,000 hours (around 2 and a half years of continuous run time) with a laser versus 2,500 hours with a bulb.

The EB-L610U 6000 has a 12,000-hour warranty or five-years. 12,000 hours is a top warranty and one of the best in the industry.

There are other reasons people switch. Laser projectors also provide a wider range of colours and sharper contrast. But it’s the higher brightness that most people want, and this is where the EB-L610U 6000 really shines.

The 6,000-lumen brightness of the EB-L610U is extremely high. Lumens are an important factor for projectors because the less ambient light there is, the closer the projector needs to be to the screen. This impacts usability considerably. Experts agree 3,000-lumens is good for a projector, so 6,000-lumens is fantastic to have.

In use, this high brightness means you can run the projector in rooms that get a lot of natural light. It isn’t necessary to close the blinds to see an image, for example, and you can place the projector far away from the screen.

The resolution is very good too, with the EB-L610U displaying WUXGA Full HD resolution, which is 1,920 x 1,200. The W in WUXGA refers to ‘widescreen’ so it is the widescreen version of UXGA. You may know this better as 16:10.

Turn the Epson EB-L610U 6000 on and you have a choice of connectivity options. These include HDBaseT for straightforward wired connection over a single cable, plus HDMI so you can connect a variety of sources. It also has Screen Mirroring so you can connect your projector and mobile device wirelessly using Miracast technology.

All you need to do to use the Epson EB-L610U is turn it on and connect the source. The projector has its own remote, which allows you to control the source video and adjust picture settings without touching the box. The software is easy to use, and adjusting settings is as easy as pressing a few buttons.

Overall, the Epson EB-L610U is excellent value for money. Its combination of brightness, resolution and connectivity is as good as it gets at this price point – and it’s better than many other projectors which cost more.
