Enhanced viewing experience
Sony’s Smart Settings feature optimises brightness, cooling system and other projector settings for four application environments. In addition, Ambiance, our new built-in ambient light sensor, measures the brightness of a room and adjusts colour enhancement, Bright View mode and Reality Creation settings to the environment to enhance the viewing experience.

The VPL-PHZ61/51 projectors are especially useful for businesses and educational institutions, helping them reduce operating costs. A new Auto Light Output feature works in tandem with Ambience to optimise image quality and ensure excellent visibility while reducing power consumption.
Support for 4K 60P input makes life easier when using the VPL-PHZ61 or VPL-PHZ51 in configurations with multiple lower-level flat panel displays. Simply split the same 4K signal to control all your display devices without conversion. A powerful image scaler effortlessly converts 4K input signals to WUXGA resolution, which nearly matches the picture quality of 4K. Reality Creation, Sony’s unique image enhancement feature, is now optimised for 4K-60P signals, adding even more sharpness and depth to projected images. Devices with Content Protection such as 4K UHD players are also supported.
Intelligent, installation-friendly design
Enjoy flexible installation options with a generous vertical lens shift range of +55%, so you can easily achieve perfectly proportioned images without long pole brackets or keystone correction when the projector is ceiling mounted. We’ve also extended the projection range, making it easier to replace an already installed projector without having to realign an existing ceiling mount.

Intelligent design
Thanks to the intelligent settings, installation is easier and performance can be maximised in the areas of projector usage, image detail, colour variety and fidelity, light output, cooling level and noise. The Meeting/Classroom function controls laser power to keep brightness as high as possible for years of real-world use.
Keeping dust away from the image
The projector’s laser light source is sealed to prevent dust build-up and avoid reduced brightness. The special structure of the cooling channel for the projector’s 3LCD panels is covered with an air filter to prevent dust from entering.
Effortless filter maintenance
Focus on great images instead of time-consuming maintenance. A new filter material eliminates the need for routine filter changes for general classroom and meeting room use.
Data copy
The settings for one projector can be transferred to other projectors via a USB memory device. This greatly simplifies the installation and setup of multiple projectors.
Automatic input selection
The automatic input selection function automatically selects an active signal input so you don’t have to change the input every time a device is connected to the projector.
Auto Power On
Connect the VPL-PHZ61/51 to a computer that is turned on and the projector will automatically turn on without having to press the power button.
